Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) checks that electrical equipment used in offices, retail units and commercial premises is safe to use — covering everything from kettles and monitors to power tools and catering equipment, depending on your business.
While PAT testing isn't a specific legal requirement in itself, employers have a duty under health and safety law to ensure electrical equipment is maintained in a safe condition, and PAT testing is the standard, recognised way to demonstrate that. Insurers frequently expect evidence of a testing regime, particularly for businesses with higher equipment volumes or public-facing premises.
We test and label all appliances on site, with minimal disruption to your working day — testing can usually be scheduled outside peak hours for busier premises. You'll receive a full record of what's been tested, the outcome, and when retesting is due, so it's simple to stay on top of ongoing compliance.
PAT testing is often scheduled alongside a wider Inspection & Testing programme — ask about combining both if you're due for periodic testing at the same time.
